Even without a pandemic, celebrating the holidays in style means enjoying lots of sweets, and feeling no guilt about any of it. And though Los Angeles restaurants have been closed to dining for most of the season, you can still call on some of the city’s best bakers to fill your tables with cookies, pies, cakes, and festive breads. (Stollen, fruitcake, and pumpkin chiffon pie — great gifts, or the best gifts?) We’ve got suggestions for some of the best spots in town to find your holiday dessert fix.

Everyone’s favorite New York-style Chinese restaurant celebrates Hanukkah this year with a limited-edition donut ice cream dubbed, hilariously, Dr. Dre(idel). Inspired by sufganiyot, the jelly donut enjoyed around the world during the holiday, vanilla ice cream gets a whirl of cake and donut pieces plus strawberry jam, thanks to collaborators Coolhaus and DK’s Donuts. The ice cream is available for by the pint from December 10-20, and can be ordered for takeout or delivery here.

Panettone — regular and chocolate — plus stollen, classic bûche de Noël, and gorgeous pies like almond pear, apple, and pecan … on offer from Bianca’s space on Washington Boulevard. If you’re going to get Brandon Boudet’s fried turkey for the holiday table, be sure to add one of pastry chef Ann Kirk’s pies: coconut cream with cardamom candied coconut flakes, chocolate cream, apple crumble, and bourbon pecan.
