Do You Only Have a Wellness Program, or Do You Have a Culture of Wellness?
Many studies support the idea that creating the right culture, in which health interventions / wellness is woven into the fabric of an organization, can lead to a happier, healthier, and more productive workforce. We have created a model and scorecard tool that will help you to ensure your organization’s wellness program contains all of the elements necessary to take it to the next level: creating a culture of wellness. This session will show how this wellness model and its accompanying scorecard tool can help you to formulate a strategy for infusing wellness into your organization’s culture, developing a roadmap for turning your organization into a “most desirable place to work”. The scorecard can help evaluate a program’s breadth to ensure that the strategy permeates all aspects of an employee’s working lifetime. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Bus & Gen

These are all significant financial and non-financial costs to an organization. Understanding and implementation of The 10-80-10 Principle which is a framework that allows groups to better engage team members by focusing energy and efforts in the "right places" is the key to overcoming these challenges. What people lack is a methodology that allows them to understand where is the best allocation of their resources and efforts. Delivered in a high energy, high content and highly humorous manner, this program is filled with practical and relevant examples which allow the audience to identify Top and Bottom 10 and then A.C.T. with the 10-80-10 Principle to create a highly engaged workforce. 1.5 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Bus & Gen

Improving Your Mediation Outcomes - Keys to Success
Most cases settle, and quality preparation is the key to successfully resolving cases in mediation. While gathering the facts, reading the documents, talking to witnesses and understanding the law are important parts of preparation, they are only the start. Successful preparation requires 1) knowing your team's personalities and emotional triggers, and how those can impede or help a settlement, 2) analyzing and prioritizing what you want and what you need out of a resolution, and accepting that there is a difference between wants and needs; 3) planning and preparing for creative paths to success; and 4) understanding and planning for the other side's emotional make-up This presentation will focus on the "softer" elements of preparation that are critical to success, and how to use hat preparation and the mediation process to leverage more frequent and more successful settlements. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Gen

Phone Calls to a Plaintiffs' Lawyer
One of your former workers just picked up the phone to call an employee-rights lawyer for help. WHAT?!? And so many other questions, like… * Why? * What did we do wrong? * What information are they discussing? * Is there a case here? * And, will our former employer become a new client? In this session, a plaintiffs' lawyer will recap some of the phone calls he's taken from your employees and open your eyes to the boxes that attorneys like him are are trying to check to tee up a great employment lawsuit. But, it's not all doom and gloom. To offer you a warm security blanket, you'll also hear from a management-side employment lawyer who has litigated the opposite side of employment disputes. This "good guy" will educate you on thorny HR-compliance issues and offer best practices on how to improve -- maybe even avoid that call to the plaintiffs' lawyer altogether. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Gen

Thinking Strategically about your Equity Compensation Program
In many companies, management considers equity compensation programs a “spending” program rather than a “talent” program. Consequently, decisions regarding how much equity to grant result in either benchmarking similar companies or responding to Institutional Shareholder pressures. Neither approach includes a foundation based on solid research evidence, which often provides valuable insights in the decision-making process. In this presentation, you will hear about the extensive research we conducted for helping companies develop more comprehensive and robust compensation plans that create an engaged organizational culture that help achieve strategic outcomes. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Bus & Gen

Using Analytics to Transform Organizational Agility
In the early 2000’s, agile principles revolutionized the way projects are completed – by iterating instead of planning all activities. Now, those principles are being applied to organizational design and management. In the past, we managed with the assumption that the world is predictable and careful planning will yield the desired result. The agile methodology assumes that chaos reigns and we need to be flexible and adaptive in a world of uncertainty. To support this, the company hierarchy must change from a centralized model of decision-making, to a decentralized one where empowerment is pushed down the corporate ladder; those closer to the problems are best equipped to deal with them. Analytics plays a vital role in this transformation, by providing decision-support for newly anointed leaders, and comprising teams that optimize strengths and promote synergies. This session will lay out a road map for organizations to make the cultural change from bureaucracy to agility. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Bus & Gen

Bridging the Gap Between Health Insurance and Financial Wellness
High Deductible Health Plans have been loudly touted as the future of employer sponsored healthcare with over 77 million workers have deductibles of $1,000 or more. As employees out of pocket expenses increase it is causing financial stress in the workplace, with over 48% of employees in HDHP plans forgoing medical treatment. The trend towards consumerism can be difficult for employers as they look to retain and recruit qualified employees in a tight job market. Growing Your Human Capital Analytics Capabilities
Human Capital Analytics is a rapidly growing field and one that can be daunting for many HR professionals. The sophistication and capability of organizations today varies considerably. Some organizations are just starting to get a handle on their data, while others are at the cutting edge of predictive analytics. The analytics journey can start anywhere from assessing your current data streams and reanalyzing data, to enhancing HR information systems, identifying key drivers of engagement, and tying employee engagement data to operational and financial metrics. Through the presentation of an analytics maturity model and various case studies, you will learn a strategic approach to advanced analytics and how you can apply these to your own organization. Leading Through Conflict with Emotional Intelligence
In the session, participants will engage in various interactive exercises to discover how emotion and purpose can often determine how they approach/handle a situation. Through their established patterns and habits, they have taught themselves strategies for how they handle various situations. These patterns are not always the most effective. We have to step out of our comfort zone at times to recognize that we do have a choice for how we react and how we lead. These choices often define our character, our leadership impact and the decisions we make. By awakening our awareness, they can develop as leaders in their industries and use the power of emotions to make them more effective leaders. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Gen

    Convergence of Health & Wealth
As a person who grew up in the retirement industry, I see a similar shift in healthcare, to the evolution from DB plans to the DC plans. Employers are transitioning away from the traditional HMOs to a more consumer driven healthcare solution. This move is creating an opening to engage employees and enhance the benefit of the HSA program offered. By thinking differently about these accounts, organizations are uncovering opportunities to reduce employers cost, while enhancing benefits and wealth accumulation for employees through the utilization of Health Saving Accounts. HSAs are being viewed as part of the overall retirement benefit package. In doing so, plan design around the HSA and vendor(s) are advancing. The goal is to help best serve the evolving needs of organizations and individuals utilizing HSAs. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Gen

How To Turn High Potential Into High Performance
In a recent survey of over 1000 professionals, 70% of managers said they have at least one high-potential employee (HIPO) at risk of getting let go. Eighty-eight percent said they have at least one HIPO who regularly fails to meet performance standards. And 96 percent of peers said the same-at least one HIPO teammate consistently falls short. What's more, 52 percent of managers estimate each case of disparity between potential and performance costs the organization over $25,000. Why do capable producers fall short? The most common phrases found in answers to this query were "focus on the job," "stay focused," and "the task at hand." In short, HIPOs who miss the mark often do so because their productivity habits are at capacity. As their lives and roles have increased in complexity, their productivity habits fail to deliver. The good news is that just a few skills can upgrade a person's productivity system to allow for increased focus and improved performance. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Gen

The Future of HR is Contingent: A Call To Arms For "Total Talent Management"
It is estimated that almost 40% of the total workforce is already comprised of non-employees and that this “contingent” workforce is predicted to continue to only grow. In many organizations, non-employees have already passed the tipping point to become the majority classification of its workers. Yet, in about 70% of large companies, the growing contingent workforce is not even managed by HR; it is usually a Procurement, IT or even a business line function. This presentation is a call to arms to the HR profession to reevaluate its historical reluctance to engage with the growing non-employee workforce and embrace a new “Total Talent Management” approach to talent issues. This presentation will provide the foundations of a new Total Talent Management model that will become the future of Talent Management in the digital age. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Bus & Gen

The New Language of Future Leadership: Get Ready for 2020
Are you ready to lead like your life depended on it? That's the question we will explore as the result of Jill Birch's research into the future of global leadership. Jill will introduce a new way to define leadership - relationally. When we embrace a relational view, leading becomes not a "thing to do" but a way to be. The three P's of relational leadership - the principles, processes and practices - will act as a blueprint showing how to bring your leadership to life, enabling you to: -create real and meaningful change; -generate room to maneuver in complex situations, and; -appreciate new perspectives that spark innovation. Based on 5 years of research and the insights of 50 CEO interviews, Jill will share how you can build collective team intelligence, foster healthier cultures and support faster, informed decision-making. Whether you are leading a team or a professional who develops leaders, this session will provide practical how-to skills that you can use immediately. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Gen

Vendor Relationship Management in Talent Acquisition as a Driver of Business Change
Many Companies consider outsourcing components of HR - whether that be for cost reduction/containment or to leverage best practices. Talent Acquisition is often a target for outsourcing, especially when HR Leadership has been challenged to reduce their budget and/or headcount. But this decision to outsource is often done without consideration of how the Hiring Manager and Candidate experiences will be maintained or improved through the outsourcing. Attendees will learn about BASF’s bold action in replacing on-site HR Generalists who supported local Recruiting with a centralized RPO model. They will learn how the Vendor Relationship Manager role was critical in giving the Hiring Manager community a "voice" in the delivery model and in establishing a clear "owner" internally to hold the Vendor accountable to deliver as promised and troubleshoot when things do not go as planned. We will also discuss how this change was an enabler to a larger HR Transformation at BASF. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Bus & Gen

Addressing Sexual Harassment Claims in the #MeToo Era
Sexual harassment claims have swept the nation from Hollywood to Capitol Hill as the #MeToo movement has taken hold. Day by day, more people are raising allegations of sexual harassment in the workplace. According to a recent CNN/Time poll, 70% of Americans describe sexual harassment as a “very serious problem.” Almost half of America’s working women have experienced sexual harassment at work and yet 90% never formally report it. The tides are now changing and employers need to be vigilant in taking sexual harassment claims seriously. This will be an interactive discussion centered around policy, new methods of training and complying with new legislation to effectively combat sexual harassment. The discussion will include:
    • Implementing policies and communication that encourage and lead to clearer reporting
    • Facilitating manager and employee training to increase accountability
    • Monitoring workplace behavior

"As part of a robust employee benefits program, there numerous health, voluntary, and saving/investment benefits that can be offered to employees, however, if employers want to attract and retain millennial talent, Student Loan Repayment Assistance benefits are an excellent opportunity to do this. Repayment of student loan debt is their priority, and moving from job to job for a salary increase is their reality to stay on top of this expense, which is now higher than auto loans or credit card debt. Although this is one of the most talked about benefits available in the benefits marketplace, less than 5% of private sector businesses currently offer it. Empathy - The Super Power Every HR Professional Needs
Empathy: the ability to view something from a perspective other than your own. There is so much going on in the world socially, politically and economically and it's affecting us at work. The sheer intensity of it all makes it very tempting for us to build walls and turn away from each other when in fact, we need each other now more than ever. Empathy is a vastly under-rated superpower masquerading as a mild-mannered soft skill. From seasoned leader to expectant intern and every HR professional in between, the time has come to exercise the power of empathy in the workplace. It’s a business imperative with wide-reaching impact on everything from customer happiness and employee engagement, to the company bottom line. Is your empathy super power ready for action? Do you know how to use it? Are you aware of the impact it can have in your workplace? Put on your cape. Pull up your boots and clip on your belt. The Journey of a Defined Benefit Plan – What Plan Sponsors Should Know
Volatile financial markets, increased regulatory scrutiny, and rising administrative costs have become an increasing burden to Defined Benefit (DB) plan sponsors. For many, the ultimate destination of their plan is a complete termination. Others wish to keep the plan in place (either open, closed or frozen), but seek to contain costs and reduce volatility. Regardless of where a plan lies on its Journey, being prepared to take appropriate actions at the most opportune time is crucial to minimizing risk and controlling costs. It is imperative that plan sponsors understand where they are on the journey and are prepared to act in the interest of getting the plan to its preferred destination. 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Gen

The Two-sided Coin Metaphor: HR Solutions View for Preventing Workplace Violence
If we truly believe that Workplace Violence in all forms--from bullying to murder--can be prevented, then we must be vocal and share how. We know that HR Leaders and the Organization’s Leaders are responsible for ensuring that the workplace does NOT become a hostile workplace. Preventing Workplace Violence is like a two-sided coin: One side where we must reduce the risk of violence is the Psychological Safety side (inside culture, bullying, harassment) and the other side is the Physical Safety side--preventing workplace intrusions of violent perpetrators. Both are necessary. Underscore that HR cannot claim ignorance to disruptive, dysfunctional behaviors. HR holds the SOLUTIONS to have much better, healthier, workplace cultures, and in turn, more profitable businesses. Find out how to stop this epidemic! 1.0 Credit Hour: SHRM PDC / HRCI Gen

Why Projects Fail and How HR Can Help Save Them
Why is a knowledge of Project Management important for HR Professionals? Projects are key tools in business today and HR needs to contribute to them. Do you know that: 97% of organizations believe project management is critical to business performance and organizational success but, 33% of projects fail because of a lack of involvement from senior management? What can HR do about this issue? A lot. A few examples are: * HR professionals know the senior people in the organization and can carry messages across silo boundaries to gain corporate-wide support. * Can find highly skilled and committed project team members from outside and within the organization to create a talent pool that ensures project is staffed to succeed. * Can ensure that the executive sponsors are selected carefully and prepared for their responsibilities.
